Due to government advice we now have essential departments home working and a skeleton production/logistics team at our head office and factory in Leeds but remain open for business. That said we have taken the decision to only supply, manufacture and install for those healthcare projects and other key industries associated with the fight against Covid-19. Please call us on 0113 279 5854 or email info@yeomanshield.com with any enquiries you have – we are here to help. All other non-essential projects at this time will be acknowledged and programmed for commencement after the 14th April 2020 should we be given clearance to do so. We trust you understand our position during this unprecedented period.

Why specify a Yeoman Shield fire rated door edge protector?

February 27th, 2020

SHARE:

When specifying for a structure, it’s important to be aware of the level of wear and tear a door can be exposed to in a public building.

Door edges, in particular, can be easily damaged or worn down by regular use – which can then render them non-compliant for fire safety regulations. To ensure that a project remains compliant, an architect can specify durable door edge protectors to add durability and longevity to doors.

Not only will specifying edge protectors increase the longevity of doors, they will enhance the cost efficiency of a project by reducing maintenance demands and the possibility of having to replace unsafe fire doors.

Yeoman Shield fire rated Door Edge Protectors are unique with a 2.0 mm Vinylac outer and a specially formulated 9mm PVCu reinforced core. They are FD30 (1/2 hour) and FD60 (1 hour) rated with intumescent seals that are in accordance to the fire door’s specification. Fire rated Door Edge Protectors are suitable for commercial applications such as residential blocks, schools and hospitals etc.

Door Edge Protectors can also be specified with different fire seals, from a plain intumescent fire seal to a brush, fire and smoke variant.

Of course, for doors that are non-fire rated in an architect’s project Yeoman Shield also provide quality edge protectors without seals to enhance durability and reduce wear.
