We’re pleased to announce that Harrison Thompson has successfully achieved Carbon Neutral Energy.
We are delighted to share that Harrison Thompson & Co. Ltd., the parent company of Yeoman Shield, has achieved Scope 1 and Scope 2 Carbon Neutrality for the period 1st February 2024 – 31st January 2025.
This certification reflects the measurement and offsetting of the carbon footprint associated with our direct operations, including:
- Energy use across all buildings and meters at our Leeds site
- Heating fuels such as kerosene and propane
- Company vehicles, including diesel, petrol, and hybrid usage
To calculate our footprint, data was gathered from invoicing, meter readings, and fuel spend, then converted to carbon emissions using the UK Government GHG Conversion Factors for Company Reporting 2024.
Our total Scope 1 and 2 footprint for the 12-month period was independently assessed at 242.11 tCO2e. To offset these emissions, 243 Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) were retired on the Verra Registry through the Mai Ndombe REDD+ Project on 21st September 2025. This project helps to protect critical forest areas while supporting local communities.
The process followed the principles of the GHG Protocol as well as relevant energy audit and carbon neutrality standards.
The footprint and offsetting were reviewed and verified by Environmental Strategies Ltd, ensuring the accuracy and credibility of the process.
This achievement underlines our continued commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices, and we are proud to share this milestone with our customers and partners.
