There is a pressing need to reduce global carbon emissions to prevent catastrophic and irreversible climate change. We at Harrison Thompson & Co Ltd (Yeoman Shield & Yeoman Rainguard) are committed to playing our part in addressing the risks of climate change including cutting the carbon emissions of its operations.
We continually strive to reduce our carbon footprint and energy consumption by investing in internal structural improvements in reducing the use of fossil fuels. We do not have gas in any of our facilities and only use limited amounts of gas oil for essential heating. All our premises are now controlled using highly efficient electric air conditioning which is combined with recently installed insulation systems throughout our facility.
We operate an efficient fleet of vehicles which are maintained according to the manufacturer’s specifications and are replaced on a rolling programme to ensure reliability, economy and customer service and to minimise CO2 emissions. We have also embarked on a program of introducing hybrid and electric vehicles and have charging points located outside our facility.
We have an efficient monitored waste management system with annual KPI and an average 93.69% use as RDF and a further 6.31% fully recycled (2024). All our uPVC waste is fully recycled and reused. We are constantly looking at the types of waste we are recycling to include items such as silane tubes, adhesive containers etc. We Comply with all Government Legislation for a business of our size including the latest workplace recycling legislation “Simpler Recycling.”
As a proactive company energy consumption is monitored continually and efforts expended in the containment and reduction of energy consumed related to output. Production efficiency is optimised with the aim of containing energy consumption, whilst considering the needs and expectations of our customers.
Our total Scope 1 & 2 footprint for the 12-month period 1st February 2024 to 31st January 2025 was independently assessed at 242.11 tCO2e. To offset these emissions, 243 Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) were retired on the Verra Registry through the Mai Ndombe REDD+ Project on the 21st September 2025. This project helps to protect critical forest areas while supporting local communities.
The footprint and offsetting were reviewed and verified by Environmental Strategies Ltd ensuring the accuracy and credibility of the process.
This achievement underlines our continued commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices, and we are proud to share this milestone with our customers and partners.
