With over 50 years’ experience in door protection, Yeoman Shield has learned to appreciate the importance of faultless fire doors, which is why they are supporting Fire Door Safety Week – 25th September – 1st October 2017, highlighting best practice for fire doors.
A fire door is paramount to fire safety in a building as it acts as a barrier, reducing damage from smoke and flame, whilst protecting a route of evacuation and access for rescue services in the event of a fire.
However a fire door may not be capable of doing any of these jobs if it is damaged. A simple dent in a door leaf, a cracked glazing bead or gaps over 3mm between meeting edges and frame work can render it ineffective.
This damage can also leave a door non - compliant to its initial fire rating.
To prevent such detrimental damage, Yeoman Shield can offer a range of fully fire tested door protection products, such as door protection panels, door edge protectors and PVCu clad glazing beads, that when fitted to a door, do not affect the fire integrity.
Investing time and money throughout the development of their door protection systems, Yeoman Shield’s fire rated products have been tested to (via a reputable testing house) and have achieved the current, relevant BS standards.
“We are delighted again, in this year that has shown the great importance of fire safety, to be supporting Fire Door Safety Week. The FDSW website has some great information and we have been passing on the importance of good fire door condition to our customers.” Commented Marketing Manager Sally Moores “But our own essential piece of advice would be to check fire certification for the products you propose to use, as all test reports and associated products are NOT necessarily the same!”
