On 3rd November during Fire Door Safety Week 2022 in support of British Woodworking Federation, we hosted a Fire Door Safety Event at Harrison Thompson & Co Ltd.
We discussed Fire Safety and how you can increase safety standards throughout your facility to raise awareness and help save lives. It was a great morning providing invaluable guidance on the upkeep, maintenance and responsibilities of fire doors in support of British Woodworking Federation. We had four speakers, Jon Needham – Fire Door Inspector, Julian Vollans – Managing Director of Fire & Acoustic Seals Ltd, Norman Sturgess – Area Sales Manager and Richard Bingley - Fire Door Services Division Manager.
The speakers covered various topics such as the practicalities of fire doors when exposed in fires, your responsibility & the importance of fire door maintenance & inspection, the importance of fire-stopping at the back of door frames and using the right products for each job followed by a demonstration of a range of fire rated door protection products. Attendees were able to get all their questions answered by certified industry experts and ex fire service investigators, which we received great feedback on.
The issues around fire door safety don’t just exist in high-rise, high-risk buildings. They are prevalent in pretty much any sector and building type that you think of, from care homes and hospitals to schools and specialist housing. The advice section on the Fire Door Safety Week website aims to cover all applications: https://www.firedoorsafetyweek.co.uk/
