Hot on His Heels for Myeloma Charity

Yeoman Shield colleague David Christopher-Walker, along with his wife Rachel, successfully completed his Leeds Half Marathon challenge on Sunday (8th May) in soaring temperatures.

David, who admitted that the actual run was harder than any training runs he had embarked on previously, had his finishing time of 2 hours 10 minutes trumped by his wife who came in at 1 hour 56 minutes.

“The atmosphere was fantastic,” commented David “which certainly helped as at mile 9 I was finding the going tough on the long stretch home.

“The feeling though when I crossed the finishing line was brilliant especially as between us, Rachel and I will have raised £1,700.00.”

Yeoman Shield, as part of their 50 year anniversary charity project, were happy to be amongst those to sponsor the pair who were raising money for the charity Myeloma – a cancer which unfortunately Rachel’s father has been diagnosed with.

Taking to social media Rachel’s father expressed how proud he was of his Daughter and Son-in-Law’s achievement and wanted to highlight that donations to a research charity such as Myeloma really do make a difference. After describing that he was undergoing a clinical trial with the NHS which was being effective enough for the stem cell treatment he needed to be possibly brought forward, he continued:-

“So your contributions work! I have met many people in situations like mine who rely on the NHS and donations to find newer and better solutions to overcome this disease.”

Yeoman Shield would like to congratulate David and Rachel on their stirling efforts and were thrilled to be able to contribute to such a worthy cause.
