Prevention is better than cure
Renowned for its expertise in the healthcare arena, Yeoman Shield, the UK's leading manufacturer of architectural surface protection, has been successfully installed to protect the internal environment at York Hospital's new Day Unit - part of the Procure 21 contract.
York Hospital, which opened in 1976, is undergoing a major redevelopment programme. Combining aesthetics with performance, Yeoman Shield wall and door protection products in Blush, Orange and Cream have been installed to prevent the occurrence of unsightly damage to the appearance of the new Day Unit.
As part of the first phase of the programme, Yeoman Shield's Guardian Handrail and Protection Rails were fitted to the walls in the corridors, particularly to protect from damage that can be caused by trolleys. The 125mm Protection Rail has also been fixed in waiting areas to guard against damage from chairs, and to protect the décor in the bed bays and recovery suite, Guardian Bed-Head protectors were installed in pairs.
Steve Hawke, Area Sales Manager for Yeoman Shield, explained: "Prevention is often better than an expensive cure, so we were delighted to be able to offer a long-term system to protect the walls and doors in the new unit. In addition to Yeoman Shield protection Rails, we installed Door Edge Protectors along with half height frame and door panel protection to theatre and corridor doors, to guard against both pedestrian and vehicular traffic."
P21 Partner Kier Health, in conjunction with Kier Northern, said: "We were keen to supply a cost-effective and attractive method of preserving the appearance of the Day Unit and Yeoman Shield answered the brief successfully."
