Yeoman Shield closes the door on expensive maintenance
When Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley was faced with the substantial expense of replacing up to 60 fire doors in order to meet fire regulations, Yeoman Shield, a leading supplier of wall and door protection products, came up with a cost effective alternative by supplying and fitting its Door Edge Protectors.
Yeoman Shield initially stepped in to undertake remedial work to rectify damage to existing refurbished hospital doors. Yeoman Shield's team of directly employed fitters installed attractive Shield protection panels which gave doors an instant and economical 'facelift' and will prevent any further unsightly damage from the continual flow of pedestrian and wheeled traffic.
Subsequently, Yeoman Shield completed the refurbishment with Door Edge Protectors which are installed in many hospitals throughout the country in order to prevent damage to new doors or to refurbish existing doors. Its versatility enables it to be fitted to radius, square or double swing doors on the leading or hinged edge and provides much needed protection to vulnerable doors without affecting the integrity of the fire rating.
Malcolm French of Interserve (Facilities Management) Ltd, which is contracted to deliver non-clinical support services for The Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Trust, said: "Yeoman Shield supplied test certificates for their Door Edge Protectors to show the product has passed relevant tests associated with fire door regulations. This enabled us to place the order and has proved to be a cost effective means of repairing existing fire doors, enabling us to make a considerable saving in the process."
