Yeoman Shield to keep new acute admissions unit in pristine condition
Yeoman Shield, the UK’s leading manufacturer of architectural surface protection, has been fitted into Watford General Hospital’s innovative new acute admissions unit (AAU), which is due to open in March 2009.
Yeoman Shield was awarded the contract to supply and fix a range of its versatile total surface protection products throughout the unit by Yorkon, who manufactured the building off site.
Yeoman Guardian Handrail has been fitted at mid level in the unit’s main corridors and side ward entrances to prevent wall damage and also aid the mobility of elderly and infirm patients and visitors. Yeoman Shield’s 125mm Protection Rail has also been fitted at low level to defend against damage from trolleys and other vehicular traffic, whilst curved walls in the unit are protected with Yeoman Shield 125mm Protection Strip.
Yeoman Shield Wall Protection Panels have been installed into the lift lobby areas and vulnerable corners on internal square columns have been fitted with 75 x 75mm Ultra Corner Protection Angles.
Yeoman Guardian stand off Bed Head Protectors (which can be fitted to the wall either vertically or horizontally) prevent beds damaging both the wall and expensive service equipment.
A range of Yeoman Shield Door Protection products (kick plates, push plates and door edge protectors were also supplied. To complement the interior colour scheme of the unit all the Yeoman products were specified in Dark Grey.
Speaking on behalf of West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust, Lindsay Macintyre, Director of Implementation, said: "Yeoman Shield will help us to keep our AAU in pristine condition, which is a high priority for us."
