Yeoman Shield transforms look of hospital

Yeoman Shield, the UK's leading manufacturer of wall and door protection, is making a name for itself in the Republic of Ireland with a new supply and fit service and a dedicated ROI representative.

Cork-based Midleton Community Hospital is the latest customer to select Yeoman Shield products to prevent wall and door damage.

Following a site survey, Yeoman Shield ROI representative David Plunkett recommended Yeoman Shield Guardian Handrails for the hospital lifts and corridor walls, which are vulnerable to damage from passing pedestrians, wheelchairs and wheeled hospital equipment.

The bright orange handrail with colour contrasting white stop ends was installed by John Slattery of Hygienic Installations (a Yeoman Shield fixing partner) and meets the Disability Discrimination Act by helping the visually impaired to distinguish walls from doors. The rounded grip top also acts as a re-assuring support for elderly and less agile patients and visitors.

Orange Corner Protection Angles have also been fitted to prevent unsightly and expensive damage to the corner of walls in the lift lobby areas.

Mary Troy, Director of Nursing at Midleton Community Hospital, said:
"Yeoman Shield has worked brilliantly and transformed the whole 'look' of the ground floor area. It's great to see the patients, who are mainly elderly (including patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease), using the handrails, which are proving a great aid to their mobility."
