Yeoman Shield gives hospital New Look for the New Year
Yeoman Shield products including an innovative hand rail (with signage incorporated) have provided an attractive new look to a busy corridor at the University Hospital of North Tees.
Steven Taylor, head of design and development at the hospital which is part of North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, explained: "We have used Yeoman Shield products over the years and found them robust and able to stand up to 24 hour/seven day traffic and some quite considerable ‘bashing'."
The corridor is located in the hospital's busy lower ground floor ‘street' and used both as a service corridor by trolleys and tugs for delivering supplies and food as well as a route between departments for a small number of patients.
Previously, the corridor had a yellow line running down the middle of the floor which acted as a demarcation to keep pedestrians safe from the service traffic. When the decision was taken to revamp the area, Yeoman Shield Guardian handrail was fitted with 200mm Yeoman Contra protection rail (both in blue).
Steve Taylor added: "Yeoman Shield supplied the Contra Rail with eye catching yellow signage inlaid which meant we were able to do away with the unsightly flooring. The area now has an attractive new look whilst protecting against wear and tear."
As part of the same refurbishment project, Yeoman Shield has also been fitted into other areas of the hospital, including corridors leading to the mortuary and pharmacy.
The signage is part of Yeoman Shield Imagery which has been developed to combine aesthetics and performance. Logos and signage can be inlaid into panels and rails to create effective messages at a height that is particularly ideal for wheelchair users. Wall and door protection panels can also be cut and shaped to create eye catching designs whilst preventing unsightly impact damage.
