Yeoman Shield steps up to brighten lives of sick youngsters
As part of a major refurbishment project at Leeds General Infirmary, Yeoman Shield's ‘Imagery' range, which combines wall and door protection with eye catching designs, has transformed a drab staircase used by sick youngsters moving between a daycare unit and children's operating theatre in the hospital.

Imagery has been developed aimed at aesthetics and performance. Robust wall and door protection panels can be cut and shaped to create eye catching designs whilst preventing unsightly impact damage. Mood enhancing concepts can invigorate the environment of both private and public buildings. Logos and signage can also be inlaid into panels and rails to create effective messages at a height that is particularly ideal for wheelchair users. Imagery can stimulate and educate.
Ray Saperia, managing director of Harrison Thompson, explained: "When we designed the ‘imagery' for this project we had to take into consideration the wide age range of youngsters (2-16) and come up with something eye catching that would help take their minds off being in hospital and cheer them up."

He added: "We used a colourful wave design as a background on the walls which was complemented by a series of child friendly images that boys and girls of various ages would be able to relate to, including footballers, ballet dancers and space aliens which were positioned in mock up TV screens.
Damaged doors which had become scuffed and chipped were also clad with stimulating and uplifting Imagery designs."

Angela Bradshaw, corporate planning manager at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said: "A trip to hospital can be daunting and stressful for both children and their parents. The installation of Yeoman Shield Imagery has completely changed the ambience from sterile to fun and cheerful and instantly brightens up the staircase."
