Choosing Wall Panelling For A Corporate Setting

Choosing wall panelling for a corporate setting is an important decision.  Most importantly you need to look for tasteful designs and colours that portray a professional image to any customers or other visitors that may set foot in the building.  However, there is an ever increasing understanding of how our surroundings can impact on the mood and behaviour of humans.  Selecting the right colour scheme can have a huge impact on the performance of your staff and even dealings with clients or stakeholders.  Here we take a look at some of the most common shades chosen for wall panelling and the influence that they have on mood.

Black is seen to represent power and also authority.  Whilst too much black can have an overpowering effect; some presence in room used for meetings could help with difficult negotiations.

White is commonly associated with purity and innocence.  People who meet where white has a strong presence are more likely to be trusting of each other.

Red is the most intense colour and has the biggest effect on humans.  Typically associated with lust and anger; its presence can increase the heartbeat and breathing.  Use of this colour in a business environment should be carefully considered.

Blue is one of the most popular colours and its association with the sea and the sky causes feelings of peace and tranquillity which could help delegates feel at ease during meetings.  Blue also symbolizes loyalty and helps to improve productivity in a working environment.

Green is of course intrinsically linked with nature and the outdoors and serves to have a relaxing effect.  Darker shades of green are linked to wealth.

Yellow is considered to be a warm and happy colour.  It can help to calm people that lose their temper and also evokes feelings of optimism.  In addition it enhances concentration and can speed metabolism.

Purple dye was in the past very expensive and only the very wealthy could afford it.  As a result the colour became associated with the royalty and still connotes wealth, luxury and sophistication.

Brown is abundant in nature and seen as the colour of the earth.  All shades of brown are seen as reliable and genuine.

As you can see the shade that you decide to go for can have a real impact on the overall feel of your rooms and corridors.  Before making your decision you should consider the aims of the business and which area will be best suited to which colour.
